Dolly Parton Gives $1M to Infectious Disease Research - Again!

                 Dolly Parton

The music legend Dolly Parton just donated $1 million to University of Tennessee’s infectious disease research department - again! This marks the fifth consecutive year that Parton has made this generous donation, and she is proving that giving doesn’t have to stop at Christmas. In addition to her infectious disease research, Parton also supports numerous other causes, including arts organizations, children’s hospitals, and recovery programs for substance abuse and mental health issues.

Dolly Parton fights STDs with $100K donation
Dolly Parton has never been one to shy away from causes she believes in, and that’s exactly what she did when she donated a massive $100K to STI prevention group AIM. But what was her reasoning behind giving so much? After all, these days most people don’t even know how many STDs they have (let alone fight against them). Fortunately, Ms. Parton seems more than happy to share her reasons with us.

How Dolly Parton battles STDs
Dolly Parton is an icon, a A performer, singer and songwriter who has found her niche in country music. She’s released hit songs like Jolene and 9 to 5. If you love bluegrass or classic country music, there are plenty of places where you can stream her old albums or watch her current shows. But did you know that she also supports infectious disease research? In fact, she just gave another million dollars to help fight STDs. Here’s why Dolly Parton cares about STDs.

Thank you for supporting STD research!
Dolly Parton does it again. The famous singer has donated over $1 million to STD research, which will go toward identifying new treatments for HPV and HIV. She made her first donation in 2007; she also supported research into Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, supporting that with another generous gift in 2009.

In Conclusion
The business world is changing. Dolly is 63 and worth over $500 million, but she's always thinking about growing her empire even further. And it shows in her philanthropy: Businessman Jim Rogers has called Dolly the greatest business woman I've ever met. That's quite a title from a man who's served on corporate boards with names like Dow Chemical, Goodyear Tire & Rubber, and Xerox. One thing we can learn from Dolly?
